How to get more cleaning clients online

Updated October 21, 2026 · By Brian, SudsWeb

Short answer: make it easy to find you (Google Business Profile and local SEO), easy to trust you (real reviews and clear details), and easy to contact you (a website with a short quote form). Then reply fast and ask happy customers to refer friends. None of this guarantees a set number of clients, but each step removes a reason people choose someone else.

1. Give people a website that answers their questions

Most people looking for a cleaner want to know four things quickly: do you clean what I need, do you cover my area, roughly what does it cost, and how do I ask for a quote.

  • Say what you clean and where in the first screen, for example “House and move-out cleaning in North Austin”.
  • List your main services on their own pages, with what’s included.
  • Explain how pricing works (by home size, by hour, or by quote), even if you don’t publish exact prices.
  • Put a “Get a quote” button at the top of every page and make the phone number tappable on mobile.
  • Show trust signals only if they are true: insurance, background checks, years in business, real reviews.

Our cleaning business website checklist walks through every section.

2. Make the quote form short and clear

  • Ask only what you need to give a first price: service type, home or office size, postcode or ZIP, preferred date, and contact details.
  • Tell people when they will hear back, such as “We reply within one business day”.
  • Test the form yourself every month so you know messages actually arrive.

3. Get found locally

  • Complete your Google Business Profile: correct category, service areas, hours, services and real photos.
  • Use the same business name, phone number and service area everywhere you’re listed.
  • If you cover several towns, add area pages only when each one says something genuinely local.

The full walkthrough is in our local SEO guide for cleaning companies.

4. Ask for reviews every time

  • Send a short message with a direct review link the day after a clean that went well.
  • Make it a routine, not a one-off campaign: for example, add it to your end-of-job checklist.
  • Reply to every review politely, including the bad ones. A calm, helpful reply reads well to the next customer.
  • Never write, buy or reward reviews.

5. Reply fast and follow up once

People often contact more than one cleaner. Being the first clear, friendly reply is something you control.

  • Turn on notifications for your quote form, Google Business Profile messages and calls.
  • Keep a short reply template: thank them, confirm the details, give a price or a next step.
  • If you hear nothing back, send one polite follow-up a couple of days later, then stop.

6. Turn happy customers into referrals

  • Ask regular customers if they know a neighbour, friend or office manager who needs a cleaner.
  • If you offer a referral reward, keep it simple (for example a discount on their next clean) and write the terms down.
  • Leave a small card or send a link to your website after each clean, so referrals know where to go.

7. Keep a simple record

Once a month, write down how many quote requests came from the website, Google Business Profile, referrals and anywhere else, and how many became jobs. It doesn’t need special software; a spreadsheet works. It shows you which step is worth more of your time.

What to skip

  • Anyone promising first-page rankings or a guaranteed number of leads.
  • Bought reviews, fake listings or keyword-stuffed business names.
  • Spending on ads before your website and quote form are ready.

Frequently asked questions

What is the fastest way to get more cleaning clients online?

There is no single fastest way that works for everyone. The steps that are fully in your control are a complete Google Business Profile, a website with a clear quote form, asking every happy customer for a review, and replying to new inquiries quickly.

Do I need a website if I already have a Google Business Profile?

Your profile helps people find you, but a website lets you explain your services, areas and pricing in detail and gives people a simple way to ask for a quote. The two work best together.

Should I pay for ads to get cleaning clients?

Ads can bring traffic quickly, but you pay for every click and it stops when you stop paying. Get your profile, website and reviews in order first, so any ad money goes to a page that can turn visitors into quote requests.

Can I offer customers a discount for a referral?

Rewarding referrals is common. Rewarding reviews is different: Google’s policies don’t allow incentives for reviews, and in the US the FTC’s rule on fake reviews applies. Keep the two separate.

Can SudsWeb guarantee new clients?

No. Nobody can honestly guarantee rankings, inquiries or jobs. We build the website and local search groundwork; the rest depends on your area, competition and how you follow up.
